CutPA for iPhone, iOS 26 and later

Tap Add and pick one or more videos from your photo library. CutPA does not ask for permission to read your library, because the picker runs outside the app and hands over only what you chose.
If a clip does not arrive, it is usually still in iCloud rather than on the phone. Open it once in Photos so it downloads, then add it again.
Tap Reorder, drag the clips into the order you want, then tap Done. It is a mode on purpose: while you are reordering, dragging the timeline moves clips rather than scrubbing, so the two gestures can never fight each other.
Select a clip and drag the handle at either end. Trimmed clips are marked on the timeline. Reset trim puts a clip back to its full length, and Undo goes back thirty steps.
Tap Words and fix it. The timings are preserved, so a corrected caption still appears at the moment the word was said. Proper nouns — people, companies, products — are what transcription gets wrong most, so this screen is worth a look before every export.
Straight into Photos, then the share sheet opens so you can post it or send it on. This is the only time CutPA asks for permission, and it is permission to add to your library, not to read it.
Both are portrait shapes; they differ in how much of the screen they take. 9:16 is full-screen vertical: LinkedIn video, Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Stories, Threads. 4:5 is the shorter portrait crop that performs best in a scrolling feed on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. The third, 886 × 1920, exists for App Store preview videos and you will only want it if you publish apps.
Captions sit at a different height in each, so they clear the buttons and caption bars that each platform draws over your video.
Entirely. Nothing of yours is ever sent anywhere, so a trade show hall with no reception changes nothing — including the captions, which are generated on the phone itself. If you have already paid, it stays unlocked offline too.
No. There is no sign-in, no email address and nothing to create. The app is free, and the one purchase belongs to your Apple Account rather than to anything of ours.
A free copy of CutPA puts a small CutPA mark in the bottom corner of what you export, below the captions. Everything else is unrestricted — nothing is held back in the app, only the finished file is marked, and you are never stopped from exporting.
One payment removes it for good. It also offers the alternative of putting your own company name or web address there instead, in exactly the same place and style, on every video you export. Tap Export and the choice is on that screen.
Tap Watermark in the bar at the bottom of the editor. Choose None for no mark at all, or My own text and type one line, up to 30 characters. Size, position and opacity are fixed — only the words change, so it always looks like a mark rather than a caption.
Not from a file that already exists — the mark is burnt into the pixels so it survives being uploaded and re-compressed, which also means it cannot be lifted back out. Export the project again and the new file will be clean.
No. Your clips, trims, captions and chosen format are saved as you go, so a phone call in the middle of an edit costs you nothing.
Tap Export, then Restore purchases on that screen. The purchase belongs to your Apple Account, so it works on any iPhone you sign in to, and restoring is free and instant.
If it still says there is nothing to restore, check you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase.
The captions are generated by the on-device speech framework introduced in iOS 26. Running on anything earlier would mean sending your audio to a server, which is the one thing this app will not do.
